About the Course

This is a wound care course for Primary Care Providers and Long Term Care providers. It will focus on initial assessment of wounds and enhance the students understanding about wound healing, staging and care.

Course Objectives

Successful completion of this course will enable the participant to:

Describe the phases of wound healing and understand when a wound becomes chronic or is unhealable
Determine the health of a wound based on colour.
Stage wounds.
Recognise infected wounds
Become familiar with wound care products.
Become proficient at low limb and vascular assessment and interventions including the diabetic foot
Perform and interpret ankle brachial index test

How you will learn

Small group, student-centered learning environment
Hands-on injection and aspiration with an orthopedic knee injection model
